Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi urges people to behave according to Quranic teachings

Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, a Shia source of emulation in Qom, received a group of Iranian medical doctors on Wednesday, February 15. Addressing the Iranian doctors, he stated, "If our medical doctors behave according to Quranic teachings, our society will in turn enjoy its great results since such adherence to Quran can bring about mental as well as physical health for all people."

"As long as we adhere to Quranic teachings, we will be successful in our efforts; otherwise we may begin to fall," the cleric added.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Grand Ayatollah Makarem reiterated, "In order to get an authentic understating of Quranic verses, one needs to deeply study Quran and ponder upon its concepts."

He added, "It's been mentioned in the Holy Quran that mankind can find solutions to all worldly problems including their physical, mental, social, moral and spiritual problems provided that they try to comprehend its teachings. The Holy Quran guides people from the darkness of moral corruption and vice to the light."

"Adherence to Quran will influence all aspects of human life. Although, one must keep in mind that mere memorization of Quranic verses is only the first step in the process of internalizing its valuable divine teachings and in order to realize full adherence to Quranic verses, it's essential to act and behave according to Quranic teachings," Hawzah News quoted Ayatollah Makarem as saying.

The Shia cleric concluded by saying, "There have been some historic cases that acting according to even one Quranic verse has led to the salvation of a whole nation or country."
